What Is Private Cloud?

A private cloud solution is a form of cloud computing that has the same benefits of a public cloud but it can be created specific to the owner’s needs. Unlike a public cloud, a private cloud does not share resources with other users. Everything is for the use of the owner and owner alone.

A private cloud operates within hardware that is onsite with the owner. This can be existing equipment or equipment purchased specifically for the job. Private clouds can also be built to the specification of the user. They won’t be limited by any “off the shelf” cloud solution.

For example, a private cloud could run programs centrally whereas a product such as Microsoft 365 is a simple data storage platform.

Security

Private clouds can also be seen as more secure than a public cloud. The owner knows where the data is stored (in their office), they can set extra security measures (Firewall, 2 Factor Authentication) and they can limit who has access to the system.

Accessibility

Similar to public cloud setups, private clouds can work wherever you have internet access. They can be accessed across multiple devices if desired or can be limited to one portable device (laptop) to use in the office and at home.
